New year, new coach, new staff and new era. Magee High School Head Coach Zack Jones was able to get a first hand look at the Trojans he will be leading on Friday nights this Fall.

Magee participated in a Spring Jamboree at the University of Southern Mississippi, Friday, May 14, 2021. Nearly 30 teams participated in the three day event held at Southern. MHSAA used the opportunity to train and work with referees during the event.

The jamboree gives coaches especially new ones the opportunity to see what their teams has and what needs developing over the summer. Now mind not all footballs players are on the field during the Spring because of participation in other sports.

The athletes are able to perform in a setting that some will never have the opportunity to do again.

A new staff has been composed at Magee. There will be some familiar faces along with some new ones. Stayed tune to this Fall Good things are to come.

Coach Jones was quoted as “I was very pleased with our efforts. We were able to get our kids some reps against a very good Columbia team. Even though we were not as crisp as we wanted to be in some areas, we had some guys step up and show they could play. Now we know what we need to attack going into the summer to ensure we have a great season.”

Magee will begin summer workouts as soon as school is over.

August is right around the corner and so are Friday Night Lights.
