LandLThe new floor plans, elevations, and site plan for the new cafeteria at Mendenhall Elementary School were released at the Simpson County School Board Meeting, Tuesday, June 30.  If the board approves moving forward with the plan, bids will be advertised on July 9, July 16, and open bids on August 7, 2015.

The contractors estimated between 300 and 365 days for construction of the new building on the last bid.  The building should be ready  for the beginning of the 2016 school year.

There is something wrong when the school district just always wants build the Mendenhall campus a new building when Magee and other areas of this county needs new school campus or just new buildings and I am for one am opposed to building Mendenhall a new cafeteria when Magee Elementary needs a new school campus in better neighbor preferably located near Highway 49 located outside of the downtown with plentiful room for growth and expansion. I just wish the school district and the board will stop doing something for Mendenhall even though their is not big need now and wish they will focused on what we need to build now and get it done. Mendenhall may need a new cafeteria but it could have waited until the biggest needs have been done before doing this project at all. The school board needs to stop the tip-for-tac policy they are doing and this what I mean for everything they do to improve Magee schools , they want to do something for Mendenhall but Mendenhall projected could have waited until they have dealt with the bigger issues. The bigger issues includes the following building Magee a new elementary school campus in a better area where you could expand the campus if you need to and Harrisville really need a Elementary school campus and the Pinola schools needs their high school campus rebuilt one day. Magee High School down the road will need a new High School preferably built near Highway 49 where you could expand the campus if needed.
