The City of Magee elected officials participated in a swearing in ceremony as each one took the Oath of Office Thursday, July 1, 2021. The ceremony was held at the Civic Center in Magee.
Simpson County Chancery Clerk Tommy Jo Harvey swore each candidate into office. Each alderman used their own bible that had special meaning to them.
Rev. James Fortenberry, Chaplain for the Magee Fire Department, opened the ceremony with a word of prayer.
Mayor Dale Berry was sworn in as Mayor.
First alderman sworn into office was Alderman at Large Sue Honea. Holding the bible for Sue was her sister Linda Montgomery.
Alderman Patrick Brown Ward 4 was next. Holding the bible for Brown was his wife Norma.
Alderman Lane Steel Ward 3 was sworn into office. Standing beside Steel and holding the Bible was his mother Nadine Steele.
Alderman Matthew Hickman Ward 2 was sworn back into office. Assisting Matthew was his wife Jessica.
Newly elected Alderman Mark Grubbs Ward 1 was sworn into office. Standing next to him and holding the Bible was his wife Suzanne.
After all elected officials were sworn into office, a reception was held. Rhoda Berry of Rhoda’s was in charge of the refreshments.
