JACKSON, Miss – Copiah-Lincoln Community College President Dr. Ronnie Nettles is one of 13 college presidents that will receive Phi Theta Kappa’s Michael Bennett Lifetime Achievement Awards during PTK Catalyst 2018, the society’s annual convention in Kansas City, Missouri, April 19-21.
The Bennett Awards honor retiring college presidents who have provided consistently outstanding support to Phi Theta Kappa chapters and advisors throughout their careers. The award is named in honor of the late Dr. Michael Bennett, longtime president of St. Petersburg College in Florida.
Nettles, who announced his retirement in November of last year, has spent the last 10 years as president of the college. Prior to serving as president, he served as the Director of the Community and Economic Development on the Wesson Campus from 1994-1997. When Dr. Howell Garner became president in 1997, he moved to Natchez to serve as the Dean of the Natchez Campus. Nettles moved back to the Wesson Campus as Executive Vice President from 2004-2008.
Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in nine nations. Learn more at ptk.org.
