Each night I look forward to what my National Holiday calendar will “roll up” for the next day..when I checked the computer and saw that Saturday is National Pickle Day….I was thrilled!

My middle son Larkin (who is deceased)  loved pickles!  Every Christmas “Santa Clause” brought Larkin a jar of pickles under the Christmas tree.  Now, every time I see a pickle…I smile..I think about how much Larkin loved those giant sour dill pickles.  A pickle siting  happened about a week ago.  I think what really surprises me is that I don’t cry…I smile.

Losing a loved one, especially a child, changes ones life forever.  So many many days, I want to get in the corner and cry for the precious people who have died.

But, crying isn’t always the thing that helps…sometimes smiling does.  Even in the most difficult of times, there is love…love for God, love for family…love for friends.

So, I hope you will enjoy a pickle on Saturday and think about my son, Larkin…and smile!

Love you my friends
