My Style Journey

By: Lacey Rowe

When I think of style, I choose clothes that bring out the best parts of me. Put on who you are: a woman who loves her family, believes in God, works hard, loves being active, likes to travel, and finds peace and joy in the moments in between. I believe fashion should be fun! It’s about how you want to look, not how someone else wants you to look or what you aren’t. Personal style should express who we are. We should look within ourselves and find the things we want to convey to the world. I say embrace your inner beauty and show that off. Be serious, bold, happy, whole–be you! You can be stylish if its truly you!

Experiment with different brands, take a day to yourself and decide to go shopping! A lot of people ask me where do I find something that doesn’t look too mature but also not too young. I go to Dillard’s and start in the Junior department. Yes, there are some things that are too young for me in this department but if you look around they usually have something in between young and a more mature look. Look for the boutiques, these are the stores that always have something for our age, and we have some wonderful local boutiques right here in Magee. Other stores where you can find a youthful look is: Loft, Charming Charlie, Francesca’s, New York & Company, Macy’s, Libby Story and Nordstrom’s. These are just a few and as you are shopping you may spot some more. Be sure to tell us about them! We need to take time to know what works best for us, what looks best on us! Reach out to me, you can hire me to spend an hour or two with you to help you with your shopping spree!

My fashion is influenced by who I am inside and my active life style. My closet has to work for me! I’ve had to learn to balance an outfit. Being stylish is a journey for me and I’m still on it. I hope in sharing my journey it will inspire you to start your own!

My blue jean dress with applique came from Ross Dress Shop in Flowood, lightweight red sweater if from Loft, shoes are from Belk, and sunshades are from New Orleans Farmers Market (Gucci replica).
