Judge Beam was appointed by Governor Phil Bryant to fill the unexpired term of Justice Randy Pierce, who became director of the Mississippi Judicial College.  The Supreme Court term for District 2, position 2 is set to expire December 31, 2016.  Judge Beam will seek election on the November ballot.

Judge Beam, 52, will be the fourth woman to serve on the Mississippi Supreme Court.  She will become the second woman on the current court.

Judge Beam is married to Dr. Stephen Beam of Sumrall and they have five children.  She is a member of the Sumrall United Methodist Church in Lamar County.

District 2 covers 27 counties.

Judge Beam previously served as 10th District Chancery Judge in Forrest, Lamar, Marion, Pearl River, and Perry Counties.  She served as Lamar County Prosecuting Attorney, Youth Court Prosecutor, Criminal Prosecuting in Justice and County Court.  She has practiced law for over 20 years representing people, business and various entities throughout South Mississippi.  Judge Beam received her law degree and Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from the University of Mississippi.

Judge Beam has been an advocate for children her entire career and will continue this passion into her job as a Mississippi Supreme Court Justice.

Visiting with Judge Beam was quite impressive!  She is a fireball and a woman of passion…you can see it in her eyes and face.  Our Governor made a wise choice.
