Mrs. Winnie Mullins Rodick (Gram Winnie or Aunt Winnie to many) died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, April 28, 2021. She enjoyed 97 full and joyful years in Simpson County and New Orleans. She graduated from Pinola High School and Draughon’s Business College in Jackson. A lifetime bookkeeper, she worked in Jackson before moving to New Orleans. Winnie worked a number of years with Westinghouse in New Orleans. She met and married Christopher D. Rodick, now deceased. She loved and adored his children, Chris Rodick III of Slidel, and Margaret R. Ingram of Natchitoches, LA. She poured her life, love, and caretaking into her Rodick grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Winnie lost her home during Katrina and moved back to Mississippi where she bought a home on Bailey Street and lived until this past year. Last year, she moved into Strong River Villa, where she died.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wayne Mullins and Evie Holyfield Mullins of Stonewall Community. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chris Rodick, and her siblings, C.D. Mullins of Mendenhall, Irene Mullins Basham of Meridian, and Grace Mullins Grubbs of Prentiss.

She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Winnie was a remarkable, resilient lady who found another place of service as she cared for nieces and nephews and built a new life for herself in her home county. She was a Christian who believed in counting one’s blessings everyday, and volunteered several days a week at Simpson General Hospital. Winnie was known by all as a woman of high intelligence, a straightforward and no-nonsense person, but mostly she was known as a caretaker with the most loving of hearts.
