I was saddened last night when I learned of the severity of Mrs. Hilda Roberts condition.  The first thing I did this morning (Wednesday) was  check Sandra Hyde’s Facebook page.

There were the words…her precious mother had slipped into eternity at 12:21 AM Wednesday.

Hilda was a person who made everyone smile.  When I saw her coming, a smile would come from my heart—she just made me that happy when I saw her.

Katherine McCarley – A Special Lady in My Life

Katherine McCarley – A Special Lady in My Life

September 1, 2025

For years, Hilda taught in the Business Department at Magee School.  She was always known as the “little short lady.”  Sure, Hilda was short in statue…but a giant in everyday life.

Anyone who let her size fool them…didn’t know her.  She was feisty! She was loyal!  And, she was loved!

Hilda was married to Lewis Roberts…she has two daughters…Susan Walker and Sandra Hyde…and 4 grandsons….plus a Sunday School class that loved and adored her.

I will post arrangements when received.

My heart is sad.  Hilda was my friend. She walked by my house almost every morning with her cap on and peeping as to what was going on at my house! ha

People like Hilda made life fun.  Here’s to one of the best…I loved you, Hilda.

The passing of Mrs. Hilda Roberts truly saddens me she was one of my most favorite teachers in high school. My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends
