Mrs. Dorothy Brown Hilton gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. She celebrated her 99th birthday just a few days ago. She was born on November 30, 1925, to Ernest M. Brown and Sadie Warren Brown in Attala County, MS.
Mrs.Dorothy was a true Christian lady. She loved her family and taking care of them was one of the things that brought her great joy. She worked as a telephone operator at Southern Bell. She has several hobbies including gardening and crocheting. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and could identify the name of many. She served as Girl Scout leader and Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest M and Sadie Warren Brown; husband, W.D. Hilton Jr.; brothers, Warren Brown and Ernest D. “Mike” Brown”; sisters, Amanda Brown, Annie Brown and daughter-in-law, Iva Jo Hilton.
Mrs. Dorothy is survived by her son, William “Bubba” E. Hilton; daughters, Nell Hilton Moore and Renee Hilton James (John); five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 12, at the Church of Mendenhall in Mendenhall, MS with interment following in Rexford Cemetery. Brother Eugene Banes will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rexford Methodist Church , 204 Henry Byrd Rd, Florence, MS 39073, or French Camp Academy, One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
