The Simpson County Historical & Genealogical Society (SCHGS) in a special event is honoring Mrs. Betty Ainsworth Compere.  The event will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at ten o’clock in the morning at the Simpson County Museum and SCHGS Offices in the Miller Building at 150 West Court Avenue, Mendenhall.

The event will include a reception and a special program planned and emceed by Mr. Kevin Davis.  In addition to her other talents, Mrs. Compere has been a prolific artist.  The program will include a presentation of and commentary on a selection of her paintings.  Mrs. Compere’s relatives, friends, and former students are cordially invited to attend.

“Ms. Betty,” who has contributed tirelessly to the study and the preservation of the history and the genealogical record of Simpson County, is held in the greatest respect and affection by the members of SCHGS.  She is the longest serving active member of the Society, and she has faithfully served the Society over the years as an active member and in various offices.  The Simpson County Historical & Genealogical Society, therefore, is pleased and honored to celebrate her life and work with this special event – Betty Ainsworth Compere Appreciation Day.
