FCCLA, Families First, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol hosted guest speaker Dwight Owens for 9th-12th students at Mendenhall High School.  Dwight Owens captivated the crowd with his speech about his life journey.  In 2005, Mr. Owens’ car was rear ended by a drunk driver in which he suffered  punctured lungs, six broken ribs, severe internal injuries, a broken back, a dislodged liver, and a severed spine that left him paralyzed from the waist down.   You would think that his story would be over, but it is not.  Mr. Owens has written a book, speaks to groups all over the country, and has won state and national awards. His goal is to share his story to transform lives.
