My friend Ance Grubbs died this week. Like many of you I was blessed to be a recipient for several years of his beautiful handmade Christmas ornaments. I may find the ornament on my door —or as last time—I met him on the porch when he made the delivery.
I always thought of Ance as Mr Magee Hospital. I have no idea how many years he worked at MGH!
I enjoyed Ance not only for his ornaments but his love and sharing of the history of Magee. If you ever want to see some old pictures from our city, check Ance’s Facebook page. He shared history in the best way possible—through photos.
Ance was a giving person. He shared his flowers and vegetables with friends. I always thought he grew the prettiest “old timey” flowers. Ance had a green thumb.
Ance set on one side of the church…and I sat on the other! I would always see him walk in and sit with Dontell his wife. As the years have gone by, Ance’s health prevented his attendance at church.
Thanks for being my friend, Ance. Thank you for sharing your talents with me. I will forever treasure my “Ance” ornaments. Even my children recognize his ornaments .
Services for Ance Grubbs are: Graveside Service Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Coat Baptist Church,
