Discussion, discussion, discussion….what do we do??? The situation concerning the traffic at the new Magee Elementary is a hot topic in Simpson County.  A meeting was held Wednesday of county and city officials…representative from the Simpson County Development Foundation, Canadian National Railroad, and MDOT to discuss possible solutions to the problem. (See article under City News)

The city nor county can afford to build a new road to the school…and where would the road start and go???

At this time, two buses can pass on Goodwater Road.  (the city alderman took a bus trip and found that out!)

Getting the buses to and from the junior high and high school to the elementary is not easy.  Presently, Patrice was informed at the Wednesday meeting that the busses would leave the school and follow 1st Street (which is the street in front of First Baptist Church)…cross the railroad track by Rankin Body Shop (that is “my” crossing)…follow that road until it intersects with 11th Avenue (near Entergy)…take a right…then take a left on Goodwater.

I am just saying…the street leading to 11th Avenue is narrow…but this is a doable solution.

Will the issues ever end with the new school?

There is no point in saying the school should never have been built where it is because, ya’ll…it is there!  What we must do now is work toward a solution for transporting our precious children.

Let’s don’t name call or point fingers…let’s gather as a community that cares about our children and work for a safe solution.
