On Monday, July 6, 2015, at approximately 8:30 pm, Sheriff Kenneth Lewis reports that the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a disturbance in progress at 131 Sanatorium Rd., in Magee. Subsequent calls to Simpson County dispatch by complainant Billie Louis revealed that a male subject, later identified as Damon Walker, had been shot.
Upon arrival of Simpson County deputies, Louis stated that Walker had chased his daughter inside Louis’ residence, where an altercation occurred. Louis reported that Walker struck him repeatedly. Louis stated that he then retrieved a firearm from his bedroom and told Walker to leave. Louis stated that Walker then attempted to assault him again, at which time Louis shot Walker.
Deputies found Walker at Magee General Hospital, where Walker was being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest and was later transferred to Forrest General Hospital for further treatment. Sheriff Lewis reports that Walker refused to provide a statement to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office and refused to pursue charges.
