Mississippi Republican Party Congratulates Primary Winners

JACKSON, MS — The Mississippi Republican Party (MSGOP) fielded a record number of candidates in more municipalities this cycle than ever before, including Democrat strongholds in the Delta and in Northeast Mississippi. Governor Phil Bryant and MSGOP Chairman Joe Nosef released the following statements following the 2017 primary election results.

“Our conservative principles are just as vital at the local level as they are at the state and federal levels,” said Governor Phil Bryant. “Our Party has done a remarkable job recruiting quality candidates to run for these offices. I am very proud of our Republican primary winners, and I congratulate them on their respective victories.”

Chairman Nosef and MSGOP staff have been actively engaging Republican Party leaders and activists across the state to help raise awareness of the importance of this year’s elections.

“We congratulate our Republican primary winners on their hard-earned victory and commend their dedication and willingness to serve,” Chairman Nosef stated. “The MSGOP has worked very hard in conjunction with our grassroots activists around the state to ensure we had our best and brightest running for these offices. We remain committed to expanding our governance in the general election on June 6th to ensure we have most importantly a growing local conservative government around the state, as well as a deep bench of conservative leaders at the local level who can prepare themselves for a potential higher office in the future.”

The primary run-off date has been set for May 16 followed by the general election on June 6th.
