JACKSON, MS – College Republicans and the Republican women across the state are gearing up for a competition to collect children’s books for D and F rated schools across Mississippi.
Chapters and clubs of each organization will be collecting new and slightly used children’s books throughout the month of September, until the deadline on October 26th at midnight. They are asking for books ranging from a K-3rd grade reading level. The books will then be distributed to D and F rated schools in each of the clubs’ county or area. The loser of the competition will have to contribute $100 to First Book, a non-profit organization that provides new educational resources to children from low-income families.
“The book drive is a great way to support education in Mississippi, specifically schools that need the most help,” said Dana Stringer, President of the Mississippi Federation of Republican Women. “This is a great way for both of our organizations to work together to support education while having some friendly competition,” said Hunter Foster, Chairman of the Mississippi Federation of College Republicans.
Both organizations are expecting not only a victory in November, but also a victory in October.
