PARCHMAN- Convicted killer Charles Crawford was executed by lethal injection today at the Mississippi State Penitentiary.
The execution procedures began at 6 p.m., and Crawford, 59, was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m. CDT. The Mississippi Department of Corrections carried out the order issued by the Mississippi Supreme Court on September 12, 2025. The U.S. Supreme Court denied Crawford’s request for a stay, and on Monday, Governor Reeves denied Crawford’s Clemency request.
On April 23, 1994, Crawford was sentenced to death for the rape, kidnapping, and murder of 20-year-old Kristy Ray. The case was tried in Lafayette County after being moved from Tippah County.
Ray was kidnapped from her parents’ home on January 29, 1993, in Tippah County, Mississippi, transported to a secluded area, then raped and fatally stabbed. At the time of her death, Crawford was being prosecuted for the 1991 kidnapping and rape of one woman and the aggravated assault of another.
