Mississippi College Softball Offers Several Summer Camps

The NCCAA national champion Mississippi College softball team will be hosting three camps throughout the Jackson-metro area this summer.

The Mississippi College softball program is coming off the most successul season in school history, winning a school-record 39 games and culminating in winning the NCCAA national championship in Troutville, Va.

For more information on any of the MC Softball summer camps, contact assistant coach Kim Mason atmason01@mc.edu. Checks need to be made payable to the Mississippi College Softball Booster Club and all information needs to be mailed to Mississippi College Softball, P.O. Box 4049, Clinton, MS 39058.

COLLEGE COACHES CAMP (Friday, July 8)  (INFORMATION)

The first camp of the summer will take place at Shiloh Park in Brandon, Miss. on Friday, July 8th. The Lady Choctaws coaching staff will serve as instructors, joined by coaches from Ole Miss, Division II national champion North Alabama, Shorter Unversity, Delta State and other major softball programs from around the Southeast.

Players will receive individual defense, pitching, catching and hitting instruction and knowledge of the game, while being able to interact with some of the top coaches in the Southeast. Any players eligible to play 14U-18U are invited to come to the camp.

Registration for the camp begins at 10:30 am on July 8th. For those that pre-register prior to July 5th, the camp cost will be $125.00. Those that register in person on July 8th, the camp cost will be $150.00. All campers should turn in the registration form, medical waiver and cash or check payment.

ALL SKILLS CAMP (Wednesday, July 20 – Thursday, July 21)  (INFORMATION)

The second camp will be the All Skills Camp and will take place at Traceway Park in Clinton on July 20-21. This summer camp will be for girls 7th-12th grades.

On Wednesday, registration starts at 11:00 am with the camp starting at noon with hitting instruction until 3:00 pm. There will be a break with a provided snack until 3:30 pm when games will be played until 6:30 pm.

On Thursday, the camp starts at 9:00 am and will go until a provided lunch at noon. Following lunch, games will be played until the conclusion of camp at 4:00 pm.

Campers are asked to bring cleats, tennis shoes, glove, bat, helmet and water. Those that register prior to July 15th, the camp cost will be $225. Those that register after July 15th, the camp cost will be $250.

YOUTH SUMMER CAMP (Wednesday, July 27 – Thursday, July 28)  (INFORMATION)

The final camp of the summer will be the Youth Summer Camp and will take place at Traceway Park in Clinton on July 27-28. The camp will be for girls 1st-6th grades.

On Wednesday, registration starts at 8:15 am with the camp starting at 9:00 am with defensive instruction and fun games until noon.

On Thursday, the camp begins against at 9:00 am with hitting instruction and fun games until the conclusion of camp at noon.

Campers are asked to bring cleats, tennis shoes, glove, bat, helmet and water. Those that register prior to July 22nd, the camp cost will be $125. Those that register after July 22nd, the camp cost will be $150.

Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC is currently in transition to Division II and the Gulf South Conference, optimistically looking toward July when they will find out about clearing the final hurdle of transition and being full members for the 2016-17 academic year.

The athletic department sponsors 17 intercollegiate athletic programs: Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Football, Golf, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Softball, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field, Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field and Volleyball.
