Mississippi Arbor Day Tree Giveaways and Sales 2019

Jackson, Miss. (January 24, 2019) – Arbor Day in Mississippi is Friday, February 8, 2019. The following week is Tree Planting Week, designated by Governor Phil Bryant’s Arbor Day/ Tree Planting Week Proclamation. As a public resource, the Mississippi Forestry Commission reached out to our natural resource partners to compile a statewide list of tree giveaways and sales: https://bit.ly/ArborDay19. The list of events includes partners that replied to our information request; the Mississippi Forestry Commission does not facilitate these events.

On Arbor Day and Tree Planting Week, community partners, families, and friends join together to celebrate the benefits of trees and urban forests to recognize the unique beauty and diversity of our native trees, which provide a powerful and lasting impression on visitors and lifelong memories for residents. Trees will be planted statewide, creating a lasting legacy for future generations. Mississippi has been celebrating Arbor Day since 1926 as a special day to recognize the statewide contributions of trees and forests. The State of Mississippi benefits from forestry, which contributes $12.79 billion to the state’s economy and employs almost 70,000 people.
