Miller Family Care, PLLC., located in Magee, MS, is pleased to announce a membership plan that is now available for uninsured patients. Says John M Miller, II, owner and physician, “We know there are many patients in Mississippi who cannot come to the doctor because they cannot afford insurance or cash prices at clinics. We are addressing this problem by making primary health care more affordable than your cell phone bill.

Under Miller Family Care’s membership plan a single patient can sign up for $40 per month. This would entitle the patient to two free office visits per month including basic labs. Other services and extra visits in addition to the two per month are available at a reduced cash price. Couples can join for $60 per month and children can be added for $25 each, with a cap of $125 per month per family.

“By initiating this plan, we are also bringing transparency into the pricing of services,” comments Dr. Miller. Currently patients must pay a copay and file a visit with their insurance after which they are billed for any remaining balance, an amount that could be significant and is impossible for either the patient or the physician to predict.

Currently, the memberships will be available only to uninsured patients or patients covered by insurance plans that refuse to credential Dr. Miller’s clinic including United Health Care. “According to United,” says Dr. Miller, “the Magee market is closed because there are already sufficient providers here.” There are, in fact, three other physician in Magee with long-standing practices. “Since patients have difficulty making appointments with other physicians in town this membership plan gives them another option without having to pay full cash price.”

Unfortunately, memberships will be unavailable at present for Medicare patients due to Medicare regulations. Miller Family Care is investigating whether the memberships can be offered to patients with other insurance plans.
