Another year has past and another graduating class has turned the tassel.
Magee Graduating Class of 2017 held their commencement ceremony Thursday evening, May 18, 2017 on Trojan Field.
Rain fell earlier in the day, but the weather cleared in time for the pomp and circumstance.
Graduates entered the field from the south end zone in two single file lines.
A new look and appearance was present this year as the faculty and school board wore black robes and marched to their designated areal. The robed faculty gave a professional appearance to the night’s festivities.
Diana Holland, Senior Class President, gave the invocation.
Tucker Sobczak delivered the Valedictorian address. LaDeysha Lee gave the Salutatorian address. Kiera Berry delivered the Historian address.
Mr. Pete Howell, Principal, and Dr. Maron Lacey, Assistant Principal, presented Diplomas to the graduates. Mrs. Wanda Glisson, Counselor, verified all candidates had met the requirements for graduation. Principal Howell instructed the graduates “to turn their tassels.”
Magee High School Band provided music for the evening event. Ushers for the evening were members of the Junior Class.
The Class of 2017 chose Delphinium as their class flower, and gold as their class color. Class Motto: “Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it is still a gift. It’s just a blessing to be here.” Regina Brett.
