News broke earlier today that our hospital filed for voluntary chapter 11 bankruptcy.

What does this mean for us? Dr. Wade says very little change for the public, but how can that be true. I do not know a lot about bankruptcy, but this much I know…you just don’t stop paying people and get those vendors to ship goods…you just don’t stop paying! Chapter 11 is a reorganization bankruptcy,  not and end to a business but a way to restructure.

I sure hope we can restructure.

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

April 8, 2026

It has always been hard to recruit new doctors to a small town like Magee. They can make a lot more money in larger cities.

According to the National Rural Health Association, rural areas could be short 45,000 doctors by 2020.

Our hospital provides jobs…the bankruptcy filing should not cause lay-offs. We’ve already had those.

Communities don’t need to lose at least two things: their schools & hospital.

For several years there has been talk in our town about the management of the hospital…decisions the hospital board was making…or not making. Everything has a reckoning day and we’ve got ours. Let’s hope and pray through strong leadership MGH will again become a viable business.

The staff and employees of MGH are loyal to their hospital and therefore; loyal to our community. We need to stand firm to keep a hospital in our town. The men and women who came before us worked hard to establish MGH. Let’s take the helm and move forward.
