CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 🚨
Magee General Hospital recently broke ground on an expansion project, backed by a substantial $4 million grant received in 2024, with the help of Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith. The start of a comprehensive nine-month construction initiative aimed at significantly enhancing patient care, patient experience, and hospital facilities.
This project will introduce state-of-the-art surgical suites tailored for both pre-operative and post-operative care, allowing for a more integrated and efficient surgical process. The existing surgical spaces will undergo extensive remodeling, optimizing workflow, and enhancing patient safety protocols.
Additionally, the creation of a centralized registration area will streamline the patient check-in process, reducing wait times and improving overall patient satisfaction. Patients and visitors will also benefit from the installation of updated flooring and contemporary furnishings throughout the facility aiming to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, enhancing the overall patient and family experience.
“This project has been years in the making”, said CEO Gregg Gibbes. “The new surgery suites and the renovation of our existing surgical areas will markedly enhance our surgical operations and patient recovery outcomes. Our focus is on ensuring that every aspect of their visit is as seamless and efficient as possible. And I’m confident that the community will be very pleased with the result of this project.”

    Will the expansion include Physicians that can admit to the hospital? How many Doctors are now on staff to admit to MGH?
    Without physicians, no hospital can be successful. Nurse Practitioners fill an important role but it is vital that we have physicians in our community.
