  • Stan Bulger, Simpson County School Board Member, Retired Executive (Weyerhaeuser Co.), Vice President, (Community Development) Simpson County Development Foundation

  • Charles Prince, CPA, Prince CPA Firm, PLLC

Each of these new members are leaders in our Simpson County community. They join, Joe Stephens, Director, Strategic Partnerships with ZING, Frank Wade, MD and John Miller, MD who are currently serving terms as members of the now seven (7) member Board of Directors. Each Board Member is deeply committed to the viability and success of Magee General Hospital and the local preservation of high quality, sustainable healthcare services in the Simpson County area and surrounding communities.

At its January 22, 2019 meeting, the Board of Directors selected Benny Hubbard to serve as Chairman of the Board. In accepting this position Mr. Hubbard stated, “This Board is committed to ensure that the level and quality of healthcare services provided by our local hospital are exceeding community expectations.   The Board will have a vital role in developing a reorganization plan for Magee General Hospital while having oversight of hospital operations, program development and financial performance. Key to the Hospital’s success will be building stronger relationships with members of our local community. As a first step, the Board will be soliciting comments and suggestions from members of our community.”

Over the past few months, Charles Pruitt, MD, Lyn Pruitt Lanphere, Althea Crompton, R.S. Runnels, M.D. and P.J. Pasco, D.O. have resigned from their positions with the Board, making way for the addition of new board members. The Board of Directors would like to recognize and thank these former board members for their past accomplishments, contributions, efforts and service to Magee General Hospital and the community. We are pleased that Dr. Pruitt and Dr. Runnels will continue to offer their professional medical services in Magee.

Magee General Hospital also welcomes William ( Bill) Buck who will be working with the Board and leading the hospital’s operations as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Buck has previously worked at Magee General Hospital as the CEO and will continue his leadership on an interim basis as the Board develops the future strategic direction for the hospital. Please feel free to reach out to Mr. Buck by calling 601-849-7300 or emailing him at bbuck@mghosp.org.

The Hospital also continues to work with Trilogy Healthcare Solutions as its Chief Restructuring Officer under a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.   Trilogy Healthcare Solutions works with healthcare facilities and providers in developing “critical path” solutions to support hospitals operating in rural communities. The Board of Directors and Trilogy Healthcare Solutions will work closely together to ensure the Hospital operates in a fiscally responsible manner while improving access to quality healthcare services.
