NEW HEBRON, Miss. (August 15, 2018) – MFC Wildland Firefighters are battling an estimated 200-acre wildfire near the Jefferson Davis/ Simpson County line. The smoke from this wildfire has the potential to create visibility issues and traffic delays. Traffic is being rerouted where Sonat Road/ Henry Thurman Road crosses Mississippi Highway 13 (MS-13) in Jefferson Davis County. We advise motorists to use caution driving in this area.
The wildfire is approximately 80 percent contained. There are no threatened structures near the wildfire activity at this time.
