It seems like everywhere I turn, someone is sick. Almost everyone I’ve talked with has battled something during the holidays — coughs, fevers, sniffles, or worse. Honestly, it’s a little strange just how many folks have been under the weather. The holidays were supposed to bring joy… instead, they brought germs!
My grandson Preston — home for the holidays from Ole Miss — started the day curled up with his feet in my lap at Dickey’s house. A quiet morning, nothing out of the ordinary, just family time. Little did I know what the day had in store.
By mid-afternoon, everything changed. Preston’s temperature shot up to 104 degrees. Now, when you add in the fact that he’s a Type 1 diabetic, the situation becomes even more serious. He can’t just take any medication and “wait it out.” The doctor takes charge, and it still took two days to break that temp.
The holidays sure have looked a little different this year. Lots of love… and unfortunately, lots of sickness too.
Merry “Sickmas”
When my son Break called me Monday, we discussed Preston’s sickness plus all his friends dealing with everything from flu to covid to stomach virus! Breck told me “Sickmas” is the new word in his circle! I think it is awesome!
Enjoy your holidays!
