MAGEE – The meeting between county rivals Magee and Mendenhall lived up to its billing as a hard-fought Simpson County “Super Bowl,” but the Tigers left Trojan Field with the bragging rights Friday night, defeating Magee 47–14.

Mendenhall struck early after recovering a failed onside kick by Magee to open the game. The Tigers capitalized with a rushing touchdown and never looked back, building a 14–0 lead by the end of the first quarter. A passing touchdown just before halftime stretched the advantage to 20–0 at the break.

Magee showed flashes of fight in the second half. Quarterback connections set up a passing touchdown late in the third quarter, and the Trojans added a rushing score early in the fourth to pull within 34–13. Zyrenzo Hayes made an early defensive impact with a sack, and the Trojans also came up with a blocked kick in the final quarter. But Mendenhall’s ground game proved too much, as the Tigers piled on 27 second-half points to secure the rivalry win.

The victory improved Mendenhall’s record while Magee dropped to 0–2 on the season. Despite the loss, the Trojans will look to build on their offensive progress and defensive stands as they prepare for district play.
