Update 11022/19JPD issued the following statement. 

Jackson Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Lake Forest Drive.  It happened just before 8:30 pm yesterday evening.

Officers responded to the 6500 block where they found a black female lying in the roadway.  She was then transported to an area hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
Officers later learned that the victim was seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was occupied by three other individuals.  One of the individuals in the rear was handling a handgun when the firearm discharged, striking the victim.  All occupants of the vehicle were detained for questioning in order to determine what had occurred.  No arrests were made at that time.
Earlier today, investigators learned that the victim had succumbed to her injuries.  She is identified as 18 year-old, Kishawnna Buckley.  An arrest was made shortly thereafter, of 19 year-old, Keyshun Jefferson, who is charged with manslaughter.

Jefferson remains in custody as he awaits his initial court appearance.

Update:

An arrest was made of 19-year-old, Keyshun Jefferson, who is charged with manslaughter.

Jefferson is in custody as he awaits his initial court appearance.

The investigation is ongoing.

 

According to local social media (family & friends post), WJTV, and WLBT,  Kishawna Buckley a senior at Mendenhall High School was injured inside a vehicle when a gun discharged Tuesday evening around 8:30 PM in the 6500 block of Lake Forest Drive Jackson, MS.

According to police, three people were inside the car when the  firearm discharged.

Ms Buckley later died at the hospital.

Prayers for the family and friends of Kishawna.
