On Monday, March 6th, students from Simpson County Academy attended the first Mendenhall Mayor’s Youth Council meeting. The council discussed upcoming events and shared ideas to help grow the city of Mendenhall.
Braden Overby, a sophomore at SCA, created the group in hopes of engaging high school students in local politics as well as being a helping hand to the community.
Council members are Emma Scoggins, Emma Overby, Emma Wallace, Lilly Overby, Addison McWilliams, Maddie Tebo, Barrett McKenney, Braden Overby, Brice Williams, Calvin Smith, and Kelsie King.
The council would like to thank Mayor Todd Booth for his cooperation and support. The council invites students with Mendenhall addresses or whose parents are business owners in Mendenhall to join the council meetings. The meetings are scheduled on the first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at Mendenhall City Hall.
