Mendenhall High School has named the Top of the Class for 2021.

Kathryn Grace was named as Valendictorian, William Rankin was named Salatoriun, and Rekyia as Historian.

Kathryn Grace Brewer is the daughter of Jason and Crystal Brewer of Mendenhall.  Gracie is a member of the Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Technical Honor Society, HOSA, and Phi Theta Kappa.  Gracie was selected to represent her class at the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Summit (HOBY) and was selected as a Future Leader of Simpson County and chosen to attend Mississippi Girls’ State (although those events were impacted by the pandemic).  Gracie has been on the Superintendent’s Scholar List throughout high school and has earned the Citizenship Award (9th), Highest Average in Algebra I (9th), Highest Average in English II (10th), Friendliest Girl (9th-12th), Most Cooperative (11th-12th), Most Dependable (12th), Most Likely to Succeed (12th) and Most Intellectual (12th).  Gracie also participated in the Awestruck Community Theater Production of “Poe: Dreams of Madness” in 2019 and was selected as Miss Awestruck by her peers.  In her free time Gracie is an active member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church youth group, enjoys volunteering at a local animal shelter, and loves to read, draw, and paint.  Next year Gracie will attend the University of Southern Mississippi where she has been accepted into the Honors College and chosen as a Lucky Day Scholar.  At USM Gracie will major in Biology with her ultimate goal being to become a Veterinarian.
