Mendenhall Elementary School Announces Annual Bookmark Contest Winners

Mendenhall Elementary School (MES) recently announced winners of its Fifth Annual MES Bookmark Contest, hosted by the school library.

The contest was open to all students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Students received an official blank bookmark in December and had a month to create a bookmark that promoted reading with words, favorite character, and/or pictures. Winners of the contest, from each grade include:

  • Armonie Manzie, Kindergarten
  • Mattie Walker, 1st Grade
  • Harper Benton, 2nd Grade
  • Sara Brown, 3rd Grade
  • Joi Brown, 4th Grade
  • Thomas Blachier, 5th Grade

The winners received a certificate, bookmark, and a new hardback book from school librarian Tracey Crawford. They will also have their bookmarks copied and given to all students in their respective grade.

“The judges had a tough time choosing these winners because the submissions were so creative,” said Crawford. “Let’s continue to promote reading, as well as the arts with our children.”
