On Oct. 16, Mendenhall Elementary School (MES) hosted a School Reading Fair, with participation from students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

For the fair, MES students completed projects on a fictional or nonfictional book they had read, following guidelines set forth by the Mississippi Department of Education. Students were able to either work alone, in groups of two or three, or with the help of family members. The projects were judged in each division by judges Rhoda Benton, Judy Byrd, Cheryl Saffle, Connie Quillin, Betsy Sullivan, Amanda Broadhead and Aleta Sullivan.

MES educators were extremely excited to have students reading and preparing projects about good books. First, second, and third-place winners of the MES Reading Fair will advance to the Simpson County School District Reading Fair to be held on Nov. 15.
