On Sept. 21, Mendenhall Elementary School (MES) hosted its Proficiency Awards program in celebration of students who scored well on the 2022-2023 Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP).

The Proficiency Awards program recognized fourth- and fifth-grade students, who scored Performance Level 4 (Proficient) or Performance Level 5 (Advanced) on one or more of their MAAP tests, including English Language Arts and Math. MES honored 110 students with medals for earning either proficient or advanced on their state tests.

“The Proficiency Awards Program is a wonderful occasion, which allows us to celebrate the academic excellence of our students. Mendenhall Elementary boasts more than 100 students who performed extremely well on the MAAP, and we are very proud of them,” said MES Principal Tommy Brumfield. “We would like to thank our students, teachers and the great support systems behind our students, who have allowed them to excel.”
