My oldest son, Dickey Honea, has stepped out with a big commitment by agreeing to raise $5,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Dickey has a special interest in this fundraiser because his cousin, Mary Lacy Montgomery Sabin, fought the fight. When Mary Lacy was in her thirties, she was diagnosed with breast cancer which resulted in a double mastectomy. Dickey and the “queen” (what I call her) have always been very close. She is a surviver with a wonderful husband and a precious little girl!
“I’m doing this not only for Mary Lacy but all my friends who have or had breast cancer,” stated Dickey.
I am proud Dickey stepped out and joined this fundraiser. He is not one who likes to ask for money or donations. But cancer has touched so many in our family. My daddy, F. J. Dickey, died at age 55. My aunt Grace Everett, died with breast cancer at age 56.
Research is making a difference. Donations are making a difference. Caring makes a difference.
