One Property at a Time: Citizens Can Help Shape Magee’s Future

July 30, 2026

My brother Mike isn’t the kind of guy to sit inside and play records. He’s always been the outdoors type person , matter of fact he still is!

You’ll see him around a lot of homes and businesses in Magee , raking, trimming, planting or pruning plants and bushes.

You might say he’s ” beautifying the neighborhood “.  But when it comes to music there’s one group he’s always loved , The Beach Boys.

When we were growing up, he had all The Beach Boys albums.
“Pet Sounds ” , Endless Summer ” Surfin Safari ” , just to name a few.

He treasured those just the way I treasure my collection of albums today.

The first time we saw The Beach Boys was May 1982 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.

A Beach Boys concert is an indoor beach party without the sand. They were throwing beach balls and frisbees around, long before any of the band members came on stage.

Then all at once the lights go out, and you hear a big booming voice come on the microphone and say ” Would you please welcome America’s band , The Beach Boys “.

We danced and sang with every note of every song. Mike, Steve and I had a wonderful time.

Yes  even Mike ,who loves being outside ,had a great time indoors listening and singing along to songs like ” Help Me , Rhonda “.

Little did we know back then ,that God would later send him a Rhonda. They just celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary on February 14th.
So “Don’t Worry Baby ” because “God Only Knows “where some “Good Vibrations ” will lead you.
