Hero Tom came from just outside of Amsterdam. Most of the K9 units come from Germany.

DSC_2088Hero Tom will live with his trainer, Greg Reynolds.

Bubba Howell with Hub City K9 from Hattiesburg, MS was in charge of purchasing and bringing Hero to the United States.  Bubba actually flies overseas and hand picks dogs purchased for training.  He not only trains K9 dogs, but service dogs and  teaches  dog obedience.  His service dogs can be used for assisting Type 1 diabetics.

Demonstration was given on how Hero is trained to look for drugs. Trainers teach the animals to look for a toy when looking for the drugs. Once  drugs are found, the animal is rewarded with a toy. A demonstration was also given on how the dog is trained to attached and hold a grip on to an individual.

Hero Tom will be used to sniff out drugs, attain criminals, and track as well.

The money for the dog was raised by citizens of Simpson County and  a generous donation given by Genesis  Pipeline.

Pictured in the main photo is:  Hero Tom, Greg Reynolds – Trainer, Sheriff Don O’Cain, Genius Pipe Line Tom Boyd and DSC_2128Bubba Howell.

The videos posted below are the introduction of Hero Tom,  Hero Tom looking for drugs, and Hero Tom attacking a criminal.

Please watch the videos they are well worth it.
