Simpson County Superintendent of Education Dr. Toriano Holloway visited MageeNews.com Tuesday morning, October 19, 2021.
The last time Dr. Holloway visited MageeNews, I was out of the office…so today was my first sit down with the SCSD head man.
Dr. Holloway was promoting “Round Table.” The “Round Table” is a meeting between parents and administration where the good and the bad can be discussed.
After explaining the county wide meetings, I just had to ask him the “real” question: What is going on with consolidation. Dr. Holloway quickly explained that yes the Simpson County School District is exploring consolidation. I ask him why? He explained, when you have 2 smaller schools, many programs can not be offered. If we consolidate and pull together, the one school offers so much to the students…all students. Dr. Holloway was involved in the consolidation of schools in Starkville and saw first hand the positive results.
“It’s all about the 3 A’s: Academics; Arts; and Athletics,” stated the Superintendent.
Dr. Holloway is a proponent of the arts. Choir, band, art, theatre were just some of the items he listed.
Take time to listen to the interview. The time is right for everyone in our county to sit up and take notice. Let your voice be heard.
