Medical Marijuana Initiative Public Hearings
Hattiesburg & Meridian

JACKSON – This week, our office will host two public hearings regarding Initiative Measure No. 65 and Alternative Measure No. 65A (medical marijuana). The first hearing will take place on Wednesday, October 7, at the Jackie Dole Sherrill Community Center in Hattiesburg. The second hearing will take place on Thursday, October 8, at the Meridian City Hall Auditorium in Meridian. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the public hearing will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. All media outlets are invited to attend.

Initiative Measure No. 65 and the legislative alternative, Alternative Measure No. 65A, will be on the 2020 General Election ballot. Our office will host a series of public hearings in each of the old five Congressional districts, as required by State law, to allow voters the chance to express their opinions and learn more about the initiative prior to Election Day. Each public hearing will feature presentations from speakers both for and against Initiative Measure No. 65 and Alternative Measure No. 65A. All public hearings will be conducted in accordance with all state guidelines regarding COVID-19.

Our office will post a video recording and a transcription of each public hearing on our website at a later date, along with a compilation of written comments. Voters can submit a written comment at a public hearing or online at sos.ms.gov. For general questions regarding Initiative 65 & 65A public hearings, please email initiatives@sos.ms.gov.
