Shelly was employed with VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS, at the time of her passing and was a pharmacist there since 2002.  She was also previously employed with Fred’s, Inc. as a pharmacist. Many of her co-workers became like family to her.

In her spare time, Shelly enjoyed all SEC football and simply spending time with friends, family and her beloved cat, Winslow.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Janice J. Mathis McGuire; grandparents, Marvin and Jeanette Mathis of Magee and C. O. and Rachael Jones of Mize.

She will be missed by her loving father, Mike Mathis, of Magee, two siblings, Kim Mathis Thames (Tim) and children Brandon and Lacey; and Michael Mathis (Keleigh) and daughter Julie. She is also survived by a close family friend of many years, Janna Hughes, and son, Wesley Hughes (Jennifer) and daughters Brooke, Cate and Elin.

Shelly adored and treasured each and every one of her family and had a special place in her heart for her nephew and nieces, as well as many other family members and special friends who are too numerous to mention.

Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
