JACKSON, MISS. The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) was recently presented with the 2017 Engineering Excellence Grand Conceptor Award on behalf of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Mississippi. Winners of the award serve as examples of how well the process works at the federal, state and local levels.
MDOT and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) were each presented with the Grand Conceptor Award for the excellence in engineering design displayed in the westbound Highway 84 Mississippi River Bridge critical pin and link replacement project. In 2015, the same structures that held the bridge together for 75 years were replaced. MDOT is in the process of replacing the remaining pins and links and painting the bridge this year.
