JACKSON, MISS. – Members of the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) participated in the 18th Annual Southeastern Regional Equipment Operators Safety and Training Conference (ROADEO) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Thursday, September 29.
Focusing on efficiency and skill, Roadeos provide employees with an opportunity to display their mastery of vehicle handling, trailer maneuvering and heavy equipment precision. The event and judging criteria provide feedback and let operators evaluate their strengths and challenges. Operators improve techniques and learn new skills while engaging in some friendly competition.
Twelve contestants from MDOT competed in six categories operating heavy equipment through an obstacle and skills course.
This is the first time in three years they’ve been able to hold the event, due to Covid.
