MDAC Hosts Freshly Picked Podcast Featuring Guests from George and Hinds Counties

JACKSON, Miss. – This week’s episode of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce’s (MDAC) Freshly Picked podcast features special guests Allen Eubanks of Eubanks Produce and Charlie’s U-Pick in Lucedale and Rick Smith of Clinton’s Fresh Grown Farms in Clinton. The episode, “Multigenerational Farms and Fresh Holiday Produce,” airs today at 9:30 a.m.

Within this episode, guests hold conversations with Podcast Host Claude Nash on hardworking families, multigenerational farms and the best seasonal produce for holiday dishes. Eubanks shares the inspiring history of Eubanks Produce, a family farm that began two generations ago and has grown into one of Mississippi’s largest operations. Today, Eubanks supplies fresh produce to grocery stores across the Southeast United States and manages his overlapping agritourism operation, Charlie’s U-Pick.

Smith reflects on his journey from a diverse career to full-time farming. Since starting Fresh Grown Farms, he has been able to connect directly with the community through its farm share memberships and by selling at local farmers markets. He also talks about how advanced technology and sustainable practices play a major role in farming today. Both guests go on to discuss their favorite, seasonal vegetables like greens, carrots and turnips when planning meals for holiday gatherings.
