JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Covington County Sheriff’s Department that occurred on January 20th , 2024.
Deputies were responding to a call for service at a residence on Jack Flowers Road in Collins, Mississippi. Upon arrival at the residence, the subject began firing a weapon at the responding deputies, leading to an exchange of gunfire striking the subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital. The deputies involved did not receive any serious physical injuries during this incident.
This information is preliminary and subject to change. MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
