Sue Honea of MageeNews.com, host for the program sponsored by Peoples Bank, introduced guest speakers Terence Norwood and Whit Fortenberry.

Honea explained the purpose of the meeting was to allow students to see the working of a campaign and emphasize the importance of registering to vote and voting.  “With the low voter turn out in our county, we must continue to give our young people opportunities to learn about how elections work,” stated Sue.  The Mayor’s Youth Council was established for young people to gain insight into the working of our city government because they will be our future leaders.

Seven members of the Youth Council asked candidates Whit Fortenberry and Terence Norwood questions.  (Matthew Russell, Riley Welch, Brennan McNair, Adam May, Cam Crace, Jered Smith, and Sabra Hubbard)

(Sue note:  I hope you will take time to listen to the discussion.  The candidates did a great job and the students as well as guest were very respectful.  We all learned something!)
