The 2017-18 Mayor’s Council has been announced by Magee Mayor Dale Berry.  Twelve students from Magee High School and twelve students from Simpson Academy were selected to serve on the twenty-four member  council.  The students were chosen from recommendations by the Mayor,  Principals, and  Guidance Counselors.  The Mississippi Municipal League (MML)  suggested “looking to the future” for who will be running your city in ten to fifteen years.

Council Officers are:  Chairman—Kyle Brister
Vice Chairman—Bailey Sartin
Secretary—Anna Teasley
Parliamentarian—Kyle Russell
Historian—Kadin Adcox
The next meeting of the group is Sunday, December 3rd at 2:00 PM.

Council members:  (Magee)   Chandler Pittman, Brennon McNair, Maci Wadlington, Kaitlyn McCollum, La’Chyna Holloway, David Johnson, Mako Mendez, Brayden Lambert, Mason Curlee, Kadin Adcox, Calder Reed, and Kyle Brister
(Simpson) Anna Kaitlyn Ashley, Mollie Jones, Hattie Grace Ashmore, Anna Lauren Teasley, Bailey Sartin, Chrisanna Berry, Maddie Moody, Kylie Roberts, Cooper Carrico, Kyle Russell, Caleb Garner, and Matt Mangum.
One of the projects for this year’s class is  establishing  historical markers and  information of eight locations in the city of Magee.  The purpose of the project is to promote the rich history of our city, educate the public about our city, and encourage the students to creatively work together on a common goal.

Pace Oil—Captain: Anna Lauren Teasley—Assistant:  David Johnson and Kaitlyn McCollum
McAlpin Dept Store—Captain:  Kyle Russell—Assistants:  Calder Reed and Mason Curlee
Choctaw Drug Store—Captain:  Kyle Brister—Assistants:  Kadin Adcox and Maci Wadlington
PriorityOne Bank—Captain:  Brennon McNair—Assistant:  Mayko Mendez and Chrisanna Berry
R. L. Everett Store—Captain:  Anna Kaitlyn Ashley—Assistants:  Mollie Jones and Maddie Moody
