The November 4, 2019 City of Magee Board of Aldermen Meeting was opened with prayer by Alderman Whitney Baker.  Mayor Berry led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor Berry thanked “Punch” Walker for pressure washing the City Hall building.  Punch volunteered his time and services.

Mike Garner was recognized as Employee of the Month.  Mike is in charge of all city equipment and does an excellent job.

Storm clean up continues in the city following the October wind storm.  Berry reminded citizens that only bonded companies can cut trees in the city.

Christmas lights will be strung across the inside of Ural Everett Park in preparation for Christmas.

The Census Committee will have a table set up in the Ural Everett Park before and after the Christmas parade.  Chris Lane is chairman of the Census Committee.

First Baptist Church will have caroling in the Ural Everett Park following the Christmas parade.

The city has two new US flags which have been placed at City Hall and the Library.

Problems continue in the south end of town and Eastside.  Three juveniles have vandalized Eastside Baptist Church and other areas.  DHS was contacted over the weekend to assist with the problem but stated they do not assist on the weekend! Chief Randy Crawford is aware of the problem.

The Mayor suggested considering Trick or Treating on Main Street next year.

Garbage pick up days for next week (Monday is Veteran’s Day):  Monday garbage will be picked up on Tuesday.  Residents whose garbage is normally picked up on Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday.
