The City of Magee has been awarded a grant from DFA appropriations bill in the amount of $250,000. The money is to be used for water and sewer upgrades. The news came as a BIG SURPRISE during the board meeting Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Senator Chris Caughman brought the grant to the attention of Mayor Dale Berry earlier this year. According to Berry, the money will be earmarked for the sewage lagoon.

The city is looking at replacing and installing LED lights through Entergy for lights located on the highway from McDonald’s to the bridge at turnoff for the Sportsplex. Replacing lights will help save on the monthly electric bill.

The splash pad located at the Sportsplex has been repaired and ready for a trial run. The City is entertaining the decision to develop the 7 acres that was donated by Tyson’s as additional parking. The tournaments that the city host on weekends creates problems with not enough parking. A plan of action will be made and brought before the board at a later meeting. An Easter Egg hunt, sponsored by First Baptist church Magee, will be held at the Sportsplex, April 20, 2019. An additional egg hunt is scheduled on April 20th at the city park sponsored by New Century.
