Magee native Mark Grubbs was sworn in as Mayor before a standing-room-only crowd at the historic Community House. Judge Stanley Sorey administered the oath of office to Mayor Grubbs, Alderman at Large Sue Honea, Alderman Ward 1 Allyson Berch, Alderman Ward 2 Lawanna Thompson, Alderman Ward 3 Suzie Bourne, and Alderman Ward 4 Julian Harper.

The ceremony opened with a welcome from Sue Honea, followed by Magee Police Chief Denis Borges leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

As each official took their oath of office, their families stood by in support. Each used a personal family Bible during the ceremony.

Mayor Grubbs thanked attendees for their support and shared his vision of unity and cooperation for the city’s future.

A reception followed the ceremony.

The new Mayor and Board held their first official meeting at City Hall at 6:00 PM.

Keep Magee Beautiful and Downtown Magee hosted the event.
