Marjorie Cook Cockrell, long time resident of Mendenhall, MS and Jackson, MS went to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2015. Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Mendenhall, with visitation from 9am-11am at the church. Burial will be in Mendenhall City Cemetery.
She was born August 12, 1926 to Tildon and Alma Cook. She married Aubry Cockrell of Mendenhall, MS in 1949 and they had on son, Charles Michael Cockrell.
Margie worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell and later BellSouth until she retired in 1976.
Margie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a wonderful Christian lady. She worked with her sister-in-law, Betty Sue Munn teaching preschool choir at FBC for many years. Margie will always be remembered for her delicious home-cooked meals which she loved to share with family and those in need.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Aubry Cockrell; her parents, Tildon and Alma Cook; four sisters, Blondell Parker, Viven Crouch; Mary Durham and Hazel Brummett, and brother, Clint Cook. She is survived by her loving family; one son, Charles Cockrell (Jean); grandson, Chuck Cockrell; granddaughter, Sarah Cockrell; great granddaughter, Kylie Session, and great grandson, Isaiah Cockrell; one sister, Patsy Ward and one brother, Robert B. (Pete) Cook.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Family Life Center or Dauphin Island Baptist Church Building Fund.
